Steppin’ Into Spring – “Celebrating Motown”

The Hammond Academy for the Performing Arts at Morton High School will conclude its dance performance season with their Spring Dance Concert Steppin’ Into Spring on Friday and Saturday April 27th & 28th at 7pm. The show features Hammond Academy for the Performing Arts dance majors including the HAPA Dance Ensemble and the  HAPA Swing Dance Society. 

The production is choreographed by HAPA faculty member Kathleen Dominiak Treasure with additional choreography by Hammond School Board Vice President Anna Mamala. Act I will feature works from dance majors enrolled in HAPA’s choreography class. Act II will feature the music from Motown during the years of 1958-1971. Techniques emphasized in the show are ballet, jazz, modern, character and tap dance all of which are taught as part of the HAPA dance curriculum.  

Steppin’ Into Spring will run Friday April 27th and Saturday April 28th at 7 p.m. Tickets are $9 for adults and $7 for students/seniors. All performances will be held at Morton High School Auditorium, 6915 Grand Avenue, Hammond, IN, 46323.
