Dancing with the Hammond Stars 2018

The Hammond Academy for the Performing Arts at Morton High School will present “Dancing with the Hammond Stars” at 7 p.m. Jan. 27. This unique event is a ballroom competition with members of the Hammond community and HAPA dance ensemble competing for a mirror ball trophy.

 The production will feature Hammond Academy for the Performing Arts dance students, the HAPA dance ensemble, the HAPA Swing Dance Society and special guests from the community. The Hammond Stars competing for a trophy include Justin Browning, dean of students at Scott Middle School; Rafael Duarte, LDP & The Blueprint Teacher at Morton High School; Guadalupe Ramirez, teacher at Morton High School & Purdue Northwest; Myrna Turner, teacher at Morton High School; and Antoine Walker, Title I, interventionist at Morton High School.

In addition to this event, the Hammond Academy for the Performing Arts will host free dance classes during the day from noon to 3 p.m. Jan. 27. All ages are welcome. Featured dance classes will include jazz, hip-hop, ballroom, yoga, creative dance classes for children and more.
